‘09 Fall Shows: New York, Part 1

The onslaught of New York photography show openings begins this week.  I’ve dug up at least twenty-seven shows opening in the next two weeks, a testament to the overwhelming shadow New York casts on the traditional gallery-based photography world. (And I probably missed more than a few since not all galleries are on the spot with updating their Web sites.) I’ve split this list into two parts, below are the shows opening this week. Recommendations are in bold.
